Pediatric cardiovascular surgery focuses on the surgical treatment of heart conditions in babies and children, especially the repair of congenital heart defects. Surgeons work closely with pediatric cardiologists, anaesthesiologists and intensive care teams at every stage. Many defects are diagnosed during pregnancy or shortly after birth, and timely surgical repair allows children to grow and develop.
