Surgical oncology covers the surgical treatment of tumours, including their removal and the biopsies and procedures used to diagnose and stage cancer. Depending on the tumour's location, the surgical oncologist may be a general surgeon, gynaecologist, urologist or other specialist. Removing a tumour with healthy surrounding margins is often a key step in cancer treatment.

Surgical oncologists work within multidisciplinary tumour boards alongside medical and radiation oncologists to create a comprehensive plan for each patient. Where suitable, minimally invasive techniques are used. Patients coming to Turkey are supported with clear information about the treatment steps, hospital stay and follow-up.
